I fear facebook doesnt work in China

Dear Class:
I will go back to China shortly and i will miss USA FOREVER. All the disscussion we had in this class and Professor Macek's morning coffee and many other precious memories as well. They have deeply rooted in my heart no matter where i am.

Another thing I will miss is the Internet in US. As i mentioned in the preious blog, China's Internet is rather internal. I still remember before i came here, it would took me half an hour to send my roomie a facebook message to ask her what i should bring.

China has its own social network which is similiar to facebook. http://www.xiaonei.com/ This website has almost the same design with facebook except facebook is more powerful and more practical. American students use facebook as a tool to connect with old classmates and new people, but we use xiaonei more as entertainment.

So for those who may concern, you can reach me by janim315@163.com, cause i fear Facebook doest work in China.

I will miss you all! Class SPC 260 Introduction to New Media! I will keep blogging and see you all!

Did You Know?

Recently I watched a vedio from Youtube called "Did you know?"It says that today's students may not be well suited to the linear progression of learning that most educator employ. They will spend more time with media outside of school then the last gengration. 97% students believe that the technology is very important in their education.

Some critize the incursion of digital technology into higher education has been counter-productive. However, it is an inevitable trend. Carly Fiorina, the former CEO of HP said technology truly transform every aspect of business, education and people's social life. More than 1442 books are published daily, how could students deal with the massive information nowadays if they still use the traditional way of reading? It is true and it is a shame that we may lose the essence, but it is just like fast food. When you dont have much time and you are hungry, you won't care too much of the taste and nutrition.

Jason Kottle's Blogging World

This guy hasn't changed his hairstyle for the last ten years, however, he met his wife though his blog, which is also how he brings his food on the table. When asked about why he blogs, he gave an answer that makes me envious--Curiosity? Habit? Addiction? Don't want to get a real job? Probably all of the above. Is it a good thing when you can't tell the difference between work, play, an addiction, or a hobby?
Someone criticized him for monetizing his readers as eyeballs. But Jason claimed that he didnt write for advertisors on his blog.
There is nothing wrong with making money from blogging. I mean, why not? Jason is not responsible for anyone except for himself. In this information age, everything is commercialized. You can hardly find some pure art or self-disclosure. If you want to find them, then Internet is probably a wrong place to go.

Cherry Cherry

DC--National Cherry Blossom Festival. It seemed like i was in Japan.
Tiffany asked me why I named myself Cherry, was that because of its beauty or sth? I said no.
Cherry blossom has a short life, however, once they bloom, they will burn their charm to death.
It is not how long your life is, it is how you spend it.
