Recently I watched a vedio from Youtube called "Did you know?"It says that today's students may not be well suited to the linear progression of learning that most educator employ. They will spend more time with media outside of school then the last gengration. 97% students believe that the technology is very important in their education.
Some critize the incursion of digital technology into higher education has been counter-productive. However, it is an inevitable trend. Carly Fiorina, the former CEO of HP said technology truly transform every aspect of business, education and people's social life. More than 1442 books are published daily, how could students deal with the massive information nowadays if they still use the traditional way of reading? It is true and it is a shame that we may lose the essence, but it is just like fast food. When you dont have much time and you are hungry, you won't care too much of the taste and nutrition.

Exactly! We're not dumb, we just have a huge amount of information to process on a daily basis. Without technology (such as the internet) we wouldn't be able to process all of this information. But then, of course, if we didn't have the internet, would we have all of this information to process?
ReplyDeleteLove the analogy to fast food. That is the way society is moving to be so fast paced that nobody cares about the outcome as long as the process is speedy. I don't think we are becoming dumber, but i wouldn't argue that we are becoming lazier. I don't think the internet helps us process information, but just gets it to us quicker and in greater volume.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, nothing beats curling up with a great book. But who has the time.....
